Overview

A trekker coming to Ladakh - hiking across the high passes and vast stretched and snow covered mountains; will surely has its best choice of trekking across the Lahaul and Spiti regions of Himachal Pradesh. Spiti that truly means “The Middle Land” is the land between Tibet and India to bring the perfect amalgamation of Ladakh and Tibet and their culture & landscape. This is the oldest trade route to Ladakh and Tibet where most of its routes are still being accessible by foot only. These trails are tough, long, high and are being punctuated by some halting and camping. Kaza town is the main hub of the Spiti Valley. The trekkers while experiencing the Spiti to Ladakh trekking can also access towards the Kibber village which is the highest village in the world.

Since the region lies on the highest point of the Himalayas at an altitude of 5577 mtrs to consider it as the moderate to challenging grade of trekking, a prior acclimatization is needed to get ready for the rigorous trailing. The trail then carries the enthusiasts towards some famous spots like Tsomoriri Lake which is an ideal spot to catch the species of Black Neck Crane and Tso Kar Lake which is also known as the Salt Lake, typically made for the leisure treatments.

Besides, the Spiti to Ladakh trekking also engulfs the most visited high passes of the region including Tanglang La, Kyamamuri La, Gyan Sharma La and more. Spiti also has some of the oldest monasteries to visit which are well inspired by the Mahayana Buddhism. The Tabo Monastery is considered as the most ancient in the region being built over 1000 years old. The area of Spiti has the culture and lifestyle similar to Tibetan and Ladakhi culture.
